Yobe State University (YSU) has emerged victorious in the National Orientation Agency’s (NOA) National Campus Debate competition.
A statement signed by the PA to the office of Vice Chancellor Abdulmumini Kolo Gulani was made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu on Friday, saying YSU would represent the North East Zone.
He said the university disclosed that its winning team comprised Maryam Isyaku, a 100-level Law student, and Zainab Alkali, a 500-level Medicine student. Their exceptional performance brought pride and recognition to the institution.
The acting vice-chancellor, Prof. Bukar Jamri, congratulated the students and described the victory as proof of YSU’s commitment to nurturing critical thinking, public speaking, and intellectual discourse.
According to the statement, ” I want to use this opportunity to inform you that we are proud of our students’ ability to excel in national competitions and contribute to national development,” said Kolo.
The National Campus Debate, organised by the NOA, promotes patriotism, critical thinking, and national integration among Nigerian youths.
It equips students with public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills essential for national progress.
Jamri also commended the students for their dedication and hard work, noting that the win underscores YSU’s emphasis on academic excellence and effective communication.
He expressed confidence that the institution would continue to shine in future competitions.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the victory qualifies YSU to represent the North East at the forthcoming national finals, which are scheduled to hold in Abuja
