Ahead of the National Elective Congress of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the North-West Zone of the Youth Council has unanimously endorsed the re-election bid of incumbent President Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo.

Amb. Sukubo is seeking a fresh term of four-years as President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the National Elective Congress slated for 19th to 21st September, 2025, in Jalingo, Taraba State.

The Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN in the zone, comprising Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Zamfara State chapters, made their position known in a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Kano over the weekend.

The Communique was signed by, Comr. Nuhu Salihu Maishinkafa, Zamfara State Chairman of NYCN/

The North-West Youth Leaders cited Sukubo’s outstanding performance, unwavering dedication to youth development, commitment to upholding the NYCN constitution, and his relentless efforts in defending and projecting the interests of Nigerian youth as reasons for their decision.

They noted that Sukubo’s exceptional leadership qualities makes him deserving of re-election to consolidate on his remarkable achievements in office.

“Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe is a detribalized Nigerian and a rallying figure whose leadership style has greatly enriched the youth constituency across the country, regardless of tribe, ethnicity, or religion, building bridges of unity among Nigerian Youth, strengthening national cohesion, and promoting peace-building”.

“The North-West zone believe that by re-electing Amb. Sukubo, the NYCN would continue on its trajectory of progress, further empowering Nigerian youths and advancing their interests”.

“The zone’s decision reflects a strong desire for continuity and stability in the leadership of the NYCN, and we believe Amb. Sukubo’s experience and vision would be invaluable in further shaping the future of Nigerian youths”.

The State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the North-West zone said they have communicated their resolution to the Federal Minister of Youth Development, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiative, Delivery, and Monitoring, as well as to the National Assembly Committees on Youth Development and the state governments in the zone, appealing for support for the re-election of its President, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe.

They pledge to rally and galvanize the support of various stakeholders in the zone to ensure a landslide electoral victory for Amb. Sukubo at the poll.

On the proposed National Youth Conference (Confab) by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, the North-West Youth Leaders respectfully requested one thousand participation slots for the zone while commending the President for the initiative.

They emphasized that the allocation would foster inclusive participation, a sense of belonging, and enhanced engagement of youths from the zone in governance, policy formulation, and decision-making processes that directly impact the youth constituency.

Furthermore, we also dissociate the North-West Zone of NYCN from the illegal activities of some impersonators of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, led by Mr. Solomon Adodo, who parade themselves as President and members of the National Executive of NYCN to hoodwink and defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

While we call on the law enforcement agencies to investigate them, we strongly believe that the days of their unlawful activities are numbered, as the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them.
