The Northern Christian Association (NCA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Equity Health Group and other strategic partners for the deployment of 1,000 containerised clinics across northern Nigeria to improve access to primary healthcare in underserved communities.
The project, which will be implemented in phases, is aimed at expanding healthcare delivery in rural and hard-to-reach areas where access to functional medical facilities remains limited.
In a statement issued in Kaduna on Friday, the chairman of the Northern Christian Association, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, said the initiative reflected the growing role of faith-based organisations in supporting community development and bridging service delivery gaps.
He said the partnership would strengthen grassroots healthcare outreach by ensuring that basic medical services reach vulnerable populations in remote communities across the region.
According to him, the containerised clinics would complement existing public and private healthcare systems by providing essential services such as general medical consultations, maternal and child healthcare, immunisation, diagnostic services, and telemedicine-enabled consultations.
Rev. Hayab noted that the association’s structure and reach across Northern Nigeria would support effective coordination and help ensure wider coverage in areas with limited or non-existent health facilities.
Dr. Princess Ibe of Equity Health Group said the initiative demonstrates the potential of combining physical health infrastructure with digital health innovation and insurance coverage to improve healthcare delivery.
She explained that the model would enhance inclusivity and sustainability while improving access to timely medical care for underserved populations.
Northern Nigeria continues to face significant healthcare challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, shortage of medical personnel, and difficulty accessing healthcare services in rural and remote areas.
