The League of Northern Democrats (LND) has called on the security agencies to intensify efforts to find the criminals responsible for the killings in Benue State and bring them to justice.
LND stated this in a condolence message to the government and people of Benue State over the recent killings in the state.

The message signed by the LND spokesman, Dr Ladan Salihu, condemned the killings and called on the federal government to intervene with practical and radical measures to forestall further occurrences.

“As a people, we may differ in our thoughts and opinions. However, our thoughts and opinions must have a common bearing in confronting enemies that seek to divide and destroy our peaceful coexistence,” he said.

The democrats said it was time for Nigeria to move from polemics and rhetoric to maximum response to deal with the menace of insecurity in the country.

“The LND is aware of the deployment of the leadership of our security services and personnel in Benue State by the federal government.

“We call on the federal government to redouble all efforts to restore peace and normality. The League calls on our security agencies to intensify efforts to fish out the criminals and bring them to justice.

“The federal government must consider fostering further collaboration between security agencies, deepening cooperation and interface with local communities to bring an end to farmer-herder conflicts in Benue State. This will promote understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders,” LND added.

They further called on the federal government to intensify humanitarian assistance including food, shelter and medical assistance to the victims.
