A northern youth group affiliated with the APC has stated that former vice president Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai’s efforts to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s government will fail.
The group’s national coordinator, Mujahid Zaitawa, alleged that Atiku and El-Rufai’s past actions, particularly in selling off national assets during the Obasanjo administration, contributed to Nigeria’s current economic hardship.
Zaitawa questioned the whereabouts of the funds generated from these sales, citing examples such as Aviation, NEPA, Railway, and Federal Housing. He emphasised that Nigerians will not forget how Atiku and El-Rufai handled the privatisation process and demanded answers on where the funds were deposited.
The group condemned Atiku and El-Rufai’s attempt to return to power, describing them as leaders who have caused harm to the country. Zaitawa concluded that Nigerians would reject their leadership and file complaints with the EFCC and ICPC regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds from the sale of national assets.
The group has given Atiku and El-Rufai two weeks to respond to the allegations levelled by the Northern Youths against them for taking advantage of the democratic system and putting Nigeria in the current situation.
He said the group would write a petition to the EFCC and ICPC to expose those who are involved in the national assets.
