NOWA Begins Construction Of Int’l Market In Rivers

Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA), yesterday began the construction of its international market in Borokiri, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The market, which is a private-public-partnership (PPP) project, when completed will have over 1,000 shops, 16 warehouses, an abattoir and a jetty.

Speaking during the foundation laying ceremony of the market yesterday, NOWA national president, Hajia Nana Aisha Gambo, said the initiative to establish the international market was driven by the need to bequeath the present and future generations sustainable project, while contributing to national development.

The ceremony was attended by the chief of naval staff, Admiral Awwal Ibrahim Gambo and other senior military officers.

The NOWA president said, “The initiative to establish the NOWA International Shopping Mall was driven by the need to bequeath the present and generations yet unborn with a sustainable quality enterprise by NOWA, while contributing to national development.

“To this end, the Mall is modeled to be a multi – dimensional network of departmental stores. This Shopping Mall is also unique as it is birthed through a Public-Private Partnership arrangement. Together, our partnership has laboured to give birth to this amazing concept which we are all gathered to witness here today.
