In a commanding display, Kano Pillars secured a crucial 4-0 victory over Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, providing a much-needed boost to their survival hopes with just five matches remaining in the season.

The encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium saw the former champions take control early on. Just 23 minutes into the match, J. Mustapha opened the scoring, finding the back of the net to put Pillars ahead. The home side doubled their lead in the 33rd minute, with C. Okorie capitalizing on defensive lapses from Bendel Insurance.

At halftime, the score stood at a comfortable 2-0, setting the stage for a second-half onslaught. Pillars continued to dominate, and in the 81st minute, A. Mohammed extended their lead to 3-0. Just four minutes later, B. Ovoke sealed the rout with a fourth goal, highlighting Pillars’ attacking prowess.

This emphatic win lifted Kano Pillars to 14th position in the league standings, amassing 42 points and significantly enhancing their chances of staying up as the season approaches its climax. The team will look to build on this momentum in their remaining fixtures as they fight to avoid relegation. Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance will need to regroup quickly after this disappointing result.
