In an exciting matchday six of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), debutants Barau FC claimed their first victory of the season with a 3-1 away win against fellow newcomers Kun Khalifat.
The encounter began with a lively atmosphere, and it was Kun Khalifat who initially took the lead. Just 15 minutes into the match, E. Nwokorie found the back of the net, giving the home side an early advantage. However, Barau FC responded quickly, equalising just a minute later through Ibrahim Yahaya, making the score 1-1.
The first half ended with both teams level, but Barau FC took control in the second half. In the 65th minute, H. Ekawu scored a well-placed shot to put Barau FC ahead at 2-1. The visitors continued to press, and in the 80th minute, Yahaya struck again, completing his brace and extending Barau FC’s lead to 3-1.
Meanwhile, Nasarawa United surged to the top of the league table with 13 points after a convincing 2-0 victory over Katsina United in Lafia. Last season’s top scorer Anas Yusuf and Abubakar Abdullahi were both on target for the home side.
In other fixtures, second-placed Enyimba of Aba were held to a 1-1 draw by Ikorodu City in Lagos.
Shooting Stars also celebrated their first away win of the season, edging past Warri Wolves 2-1 in Ozoro. Warri Wolves took the lead through Igbunu Evwierhurhoma in the 52nd minute, but Shooting Stars mounted a comeback, scoring twice in quick succession. Qamar Adegoke equalised in the 84th minute, followed by Adams Mustapha, who netted the winner just two minutes later.
At the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, Wikki Tourists and Rangers played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. Klinshak Longbak and Jonathan Mairiga found the net for Wikki Tourists, while experienced striker Godwin Obaje scored a brace for Rangers.
