NPFL Reads Riot Act To Clubs Over Post-match Conference

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has vowed to sanction any team’s media officer when the home club fail to organize post-match conference.

This is contained in a letter sent all 20 clubs’ managers and or Chairmen, dated 20th March, 2025 and signed by the Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, Davidson Owumi which reads, “Recall that the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) orgainsed a pre-season workshop for club media officers at which they are given orientation on their duty during during matches.

“One of such mandatory requirements is the organizing of post-match press conference with managers of two teams and captains or any other players requested by the media.

“We have however observed that this requirement is being breached, thereby denying NPFL necessary media contents.

“Going forward, it’s hereby reiterated that all clubs must ensure that post-match press conference is held in a conducive and organised manner preferably inside NPFL branded Media Rooms.

 

It’s mandatory under the infrastructure requirement of the Club Licencing Regulations for all clubs to provide standard media room. Appropriate sanctions will be invoke on any club officer that fail to abide by this regulation.” The letter ended.

 

With nine matches to the end of the 2024/25 season, Remo Stars are topping the league table with 57 points while Rivers United are placed second with 49. Rangers International Enugu are third with 45 points.

 

Sunshine Stars, Akwa United and Lobi Stars are battling relegation, and are in 18th, 19th and 20th positions with 33, 31, 23 points respectively.
