This announcement was made in a circular issued by NPFL CEO Davidson Owumi to all club chairmen and general managers, marking a new chapter in the league’s drive for excellence and professionalism.

The Nigerian topflight had used imported match balls before the partnership with the Nigerian brand, Prostar.

The Prostar match ball, which meets FIFA regulated international match standards, boasts diamond-pattern soft-touch thermal bonded PU leather, a micro-shell coated butyl bladder, and 32 aerodynamic panels for unmatched precision and durability.

Weighing 400-430 grams with a bounce range of 1.1-1.4 meters and an official size 5, the ball promises to deliver a world-class experience for players and fans alike.

“Based on the foregoing, you are to note that only the official balls should be used in all NPFL matches going forward in the second round of the future fixtures,” the statement read.

The second round of the current season is expected to resume by January 25.

Remo Stars currently hold the lead in the NPFL with 36 points after 19 games and they are followed in second place by Rivers United on 34 points while 3SC are third with 33 points.

The relegation fight is going to be a battle to finish with Nasarawa United (16), Akwa United (19), Lobi Stars (20) and Plateau United (20) in the relegation zone while the likes of Sunshine Stars, Bendel Insurance, Heartland and some other teams in the bottom half aren’t sure if safety yet.
