The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, on Thursday hosted the management team of Nigerian Breweries Plc at the NRS Headquarters in Abuja, where both sides held discussions aimed at deepening collaboration between the revenue authority and the corporate sector on tax administration.

The Nigerian Breweries delegation was led by managing director and chief executive Thibaut Boidin and included Finance Director Maria Karaseva and Corporate Affairs Director Uzodinma Odenigbo.

They were received by Adedeji and his management team in what the NRS described as a courtesy visit that provided a platform for substantive engagement on issues central to improving the nation’s tax administration framework.

At the heart of the discussions was the need to foster a more structured and mutually beneficial relationship between the NRS and large corporate taxpayers.

Both parties explored ways to streamline compliance processes, enhance communication channels, and address operational challenges that large companies often encounter in meeting their tax obligations.

The NRS reiterated its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that supports voluntary compliance while ensuring that all taxable entities meet their statutory responsibilities.

Nigerian Breweries Plc, one of Nigeria’s largest and most prominent consumer goods companies and a significant contributor to government revenue through taxes, levies, and excise duties, used the occasion to engage the NRS leadership directly on regulatory and compliance concerns affecting the sector.

The meeting was formalised with the signing of the Presence Register, a ceremonial tradition at the NRS that serves as a symbolic record of high-level visits to the agency’s headquarters.

The gesture underscored the significance both organisations attached to the engagement and their shared commitment to advancing a more transparent and efficient tax environment in Nigeria.

The visit aligns with the NRS’s broader agenda of strengthening its partnerships with major corporate taxpayers as part of efforts to expand Nigeria’s tax base and improve revenue mobilisation.
