The National Sports Commission (NSC) has announced a one-week extension to the ongoing elections for National Sports Federations to facilitate a fair and transparent review of post-election petitions and appeals received from various constituencies and stakeholders.
The Commission clarified that this decision is crucial to maintaining the principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and integrity throughout the electoral process.
In a press release signed by Rita Mosindi, Secretary of the Electoral Committee, it was stated that the extension would ensure that “all complaints, petitions, and appeals arising from the electoral process are thoroughly reviewed and resolved in a transparent and just manner before the final conclusion of the elections.”
Mosindi added that the Electoral Committee has been instructed to review and adjust the existing timelines to accommodate the one-week extension. This adjustment, she noted, will “allow sufficient time for the resolution of all pending matters and proper preparation for the remaining stages of the election.”
The revised schedule indicates that the inauguration of the National Sports Federation Boards will take place on 25 October 2025, while hearings for petitions and appeals are set for 1 November 2025. Additionally, bye-elections resulting from possible appeals will occur on 8 November of the same month.
The NSC expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including federation members, athletes, technical officials, and the general public, for their cooperation and understanding. “The Commission remains committed to ensuring a credible and transparent electoral process that reflects the will of the sports community,” the statement concluded.
