The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 42 officers to ensure security for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The Spokesperson of NSCDC Enugu State Command, DSC Pamela Chukwu, made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Enugu.

Chukwu said that the deployment and monitoring would ensure smooth, safe and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 UTME.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the UTME examination is scheduled to hold nationwide from April 16 to April 25 with each candidate writing for approximately two hours.

A total of 21 approved Computer Based Test (CBT) centres for the UTME examination across Enugu State had been identified for the exercise.

Chukwu noted that to guarantee effective monitoring, two NSCDC personnel had been deployed to each centre, including scores of mobile monitoring officers in each of the seven NSCDC Area Commands in the state.

She said, “The NSCDC Enugu State Commandant, Dr Elijah Willie, has directed personnel to maintain high-level oversight and integrity for the examination.

“The commandant will conduct unscheduled visits to examination CBT centres to assess operational effectiveness and issue on-the-spot directives to enhance performance.

“The deployment is aimed at ensuring adequate security presence at all CBT centres, prevent examination malpractice, unauthorised access, maintaining law as well as safeguarding candidates, officials, and facilities.”

The spokesperson said that NSCDC remained committed to delivering a professional, coordinated and proactive security operation throughout the 2026 UTME period.

“All deployed personnel are expected to maintain the highest standards of discipline and vigilance in the discharge of their duties,” she added
