Chairman of the Niger State University of Education Implementation Committee, Prof Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, has said the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 41 full time undergraduate programmes for the university.
He said at a news conference in Minna yesterday on activities of the committee that the commission gave approval for programmes in four faculties.
Prof. Yahaya said the new university would receive applications from intending candidates for the 2023/2024 academic session as against the initial 2024/2025 session.
He said; “Our yardstick of achievement was to see the listing of the university in the 2024-2025 academic brochure of JAMB but with the approval they will start the programmes in the coming session.”
He said for the government to achieve the feat in a short period in office was by no means a small task.
He said the team from NUC which came for inspection was impressed with the facilities on ground.
The chairman said the committee with the support of the governor had leveraged on partnership opportunities since its inauguration and government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, private organisations and individuals worked towards successful take-off of the university.
