In a statement issued by the Forum’s National Coordinator, Comrade Godwin Meliga, on Wednesday, the NUF highlighted Mr. Ajayi’s outstanding pedigree in the security sector, emphasising his exceptional leadership qualities, professionalism, and dedication to the nation.

The statement further underscored Mr. Ajayi’s extensive experience and deep understanding of Nigeria’s complex security landscape, describing him as an ideal leader for the DSS at this crucial time.

Comrade Meliga further noted that Nigeria is currently grappling with significant security issues, including the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West, and other forms of organised crimes across the country. He expressed confidence that under Mr. Ajayi’s leadership, the DSS would be well-positioned to work collaboratively with other security agencies to develop and implement effective strategies to tackle the challenges and restore peace and stability in the country.

The Forum also commended President Tinubu for his astute decision in appointing Mr. Ajayi as the new DSS DG, describing it as another example of the President’s legendary ability to place round pegs in round holes. The NUF lauded the President’s consistent commitment to ensuring that critical positions are filled by individuals with the right expertise and vision to drive his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’, in his determined bid to move the nation forward.

“Mr. Ajayi’s appointment comes at a time when Nigeria needs resolute and visionary leadership in its security architecture. We are confident that his tenure will mark a significant step forward in addressing the security challenges facing our dear nation,” Comrade Meliga stated.

The Forum equally pledged its unwavering support to the new DSS DG while urging all Nigerians to also rally behind him, emphasizing that national security is a shared responsibility.

The group wished Mr. Ajayi a successful and impactful tenure as head of the DSS, and reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, and security in Nigeria.
