NUJ To Hold Debate For Bauchi Gov’ship Candidates

Bauchi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has completed arrangement to hold a debate for candidates contesting for governorship election in the state.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the debate is slated to take place on Wednesday 25th January 2023 with Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of the PDP, Sadique Baba Abubakar of APC and Halliru Dauda Jika of NNPP expected to feature at the event.

The chairman of the Elections Debate Organising Committee, Dahiru Muhammad said this at the Press Centre of the NUJ in Bauchi.

He said the debate was organised by NUJ with the support of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Musical and Health Workers Union, Society for Peace Studies and Practice as well as Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

Dahiru said four political parties to participate in the debate include PDP, APC, NNPP and PRP, while Hausa and English languages will be used at the debate.

He said all media in the state will air the programme live while only 100 people including journalists, civil society organisations as well as supporters are to be present at the venue.

The state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Umar Sa’idu called for support from media organisations to make the event a successful one.
