The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced plans to relocate some of its units from Abuja to Lagos.

This is coming after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had already moved some of their departments and office from Abuja to Lagos, respectively.

According to a memo dated February 14, 2024, with reference CSA/HGA/MRP/ML/001, and signed by NUPRC executive commissioner, Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu, a copy of which was sighted by LEADERSHIP, the commission said the relocation was driven by the need to enhance service delivery, reduce operational costs and make adequate utilisation of assets in Lagos.

Dr Ofoegbu, therefore, asked each department to identify and send a list of units that can operate independently with minimal supervision in readiness for the move to Lagos.

He said the list was expected to be submitted on or before the close of business on Friday, February 23, 2024.

The fresh move is coming at a time when mixed reactions have continued to trail the decision by the CBN to move some of its departments from Abuja to Lagos and the similar decision by the FAAN to move its headquarters from Abuja to Lagos.
