African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the recently concluded Anambra State governorship election, Mr John Chuma Nwosu, has called for a review of Anambra State’s security architecture to adopt a technology-driven security system.

He made the call in response to the clash between rival cult groups that claimed four lives in the Nawfia community in the Njikoka local government area of the state on the evening of Sunday.

Sources in the community told LEADERSHIP that the two cult groups, which clashed at a commercial motorbikes park spot opposite the Afor Nawfia Market, resulted in the gruesome death of four able-bodied youth. The clash were between the Aiye and Black Axe cult groups.

The clash occurred between 6 and 7pm, and the assailants gruesomely murdered the victims.

Nwosu, who expressed pains over the development yesterday in a statement, said the sad incident underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s security architecture.

He said that the existing security measures in the state had proven inadequate to tackle the insecurity challenges, and, therefore, advised that “Anambra must embrace modern, technology-driven security solutions—including real-time surveillance systems, advanced communication networks, and data-driven early-warning tools—to prevent threats and enable rapid response when they occur.

“It is time for Governor Soludo to carefully study my security blueprint and adopt the tech-based alternative I have consistently proposed for a safer and more secure Anambra.

“We must establish a functional command-and-control centre, deploy drones, and install AI-enabled facial recognition cameras across the state. Technology is the future”, Nwosu further advised.

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has assured that the perpetrators of the killings would be arrested to face the wrath of the law.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command (PPRO), Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga, who stated the CP’s assurances regarding the sad development on Monday, said that the command had already obtained helpful clues about those behind the dastardly act and had deployed its operatives to track them down.

He also assured that the police command was committed to ridding the state of criminal elements to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.
