The director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, has appealed to employers to create enabling environments that help corps members develop innovative ideas that will benefit the country.

Nafiu made the call during the launch of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Innovation Space in Abuja.

This was contained in a press statement issued by Caroline Embu, director, Information and Public Relations of the NYSC.

At the meeting, tagged “Idea2impact,” held at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday, Nafiu described corps members as solution providers who need mentorship, guidance and effective leadership to thrive.

He commended NITDA for creating an opportunity for corps members to showcase their creativity, adding that the initiative would open doors for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Also at the event, the director-general of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, said the agency would continue to empower corps members with digital skills and career opportunities. He encouraged them to develop relevant skills, plan their careers and make themselves visible in the labour market.

According to him, some corps members serving with NITDA have developed useful digital solutions for the agency, and those who perform well during the service year may be retained. He stressed that the platform offers young Nigerians the opportunity to prepare for greater responsibilities in the future.
