The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kogi State has commenced its first quarter Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) programme, providing free medical services to residents of Adankolo community in Lokoja local government area.

The state coordinator, Femi Oshungbohun, who flagged off the outreach on Friday in Lokoja, said the initiative was designed to deliver free and quality healthcare to indigent people living in rural communities.

According to him, the NYSC-HIRD programme, launched in 2014, has so far provided medical services to more than two million people across the country.

“The programme is a platform for contributing to the wellbeing of indigent persons at the grassroots by granting them easier access to free healthcare,” he said.

Oshungbohun urged residents of Adankolo and neighbouring communities to take advantage of the free medical services provided by the corps.
