A total of 41 corps members deployed to Bayelsa State have been sanctioned by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for various offenses.

Fourteen (14) of the Corps members had their service year extended due to misconduct and violations of the scheme’s code of conduct, while twenty-seven (27) others were to be re-mobilised after abscondment or failing to complete their service year.

On other hand, four (4) others were awarded with the NYSC State Coordinator’s Letter of Recommendation for distinguishing themselves during the 2024 Batch B, Stream 1 service year.

NYSC State Coordinator in Bayelsa, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity disclosed this on Wednesday during the low-key passing out parade for 2024 Batch B, Stream 1 corps members.

Mrs Okpalifo advised the discharged Corps Members to be good ambassadors of the scheme.

She conveyed the congratulatory message from the NYSC Director General, Maj.-Gen OO Nafiu to the corps members, commending them for their impactful service to the state and wished them a brighter future.

The State Coordinator urged them to use the skills acquired through the SAED training to engage themselves in meaningful jobs.

Okpalifo further encouraged them to be law abiding and remain resilience in their future endeavours.

She equally charged them to avoid post service year phobia and put all the personal development opportunities the scheme provided for them to use.

The State Director also thanked the Bayelsa State Government and people of the state for providing an enabling environment for corps members to thrive during their national service.

She also thanked corps employers and NYSC staff for their mentorship to the corps members and urged them to board their vehicles at designated motor parks as well as avoid embarking on night journeys.
