Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki has appealed to Christians to imbibe the virtues of giving, love and support for their neighbours and friends beyond the Christmas season.
Obaseki in his message to commemorate the 2022 Boxing Day said the celebration was a good opportunity to exchange gifts with loved ones as well as others in need.
He said, “I extend warm greetings and best wishes to everyone as we celebrate this year’s Boxing Day.
“As we proceed with the festivities, I enjoin all to reflect on the virtues of giving and extending a hand of love and support to neighbours, friends and acquaintances.
“This celebration is a good opportunity to exchange gifts with loved ones, as well as others in need: those living in orphanages, in prisons, hospitals, and in the Internally Displaced Persons’ camps in the State.
“I pray that this celebration will continue to foster love and unity among us all regardless of our cultural differences, creed, faith or social class.
“May the spirit of the celebration and brotherly kindness remain with us even after this season.”
