Obi A Ritualist, Yahoo Boy, Can Never Be Nigeria’s President – Says Policeman In Viral Video

A police officer has sparked controversy on social media after he was captured in a video making disparaging and ethnically charged remarks about Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi and the possibility of an Igbo person becoming President of Nigeria.

The video, which was circulated on social media on Wednesday by a woman who captured the officer making the remarks, showed the policeman expressing opposition to Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition and claiming that efforts would be made to prevent him from becoming president even if he wins the election.

Speaking in the video, the officer said, “Even, if Peter Obi wins, we will take money and tell Oga to use money to deal with him. He will not enter there, he will waste his money, waste his strength. All the votes he will get in Igboland will be useless.

“Who is Obi? A small boy, it’s not yet his turn. Until he gets to 90 years or 80 years, fine. Atiku vs Tinubu, yes, it’s fine, kick Obi out of this matter.”

He then used expletives in Yoruba before continuing, “Go to Wazobia FM, go to everywhere, who will give an Igbo man or Igbo woman any opportunity to rule this country?

“He went to the radio station the other day, Obi is too small to stand where Atiku and Tinubu are talking. Now, they will put him in fifth position. Igbos will expect to be President, Igbos? Igbo man or Igbo woman can never be President of Nigeria, never.”

The officer further alleged that the exclusion of an Igbo presidential candidate was part of an established political tradition, referencing former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

He said, “It has been in the tradition. Obasanjo has said it. For me to make Igbo man my Vice, it’s not done, he chose Hausa. Obi cannot go anywhere.”

The officer also made a series of unsubstantiated allegations against Obi, accusing the former Anambra State governor of criminality, smoking Indian hemp and engaging in internet fraud and ritual activities.

“Obi is a criminal, Indian-hemp smoker, yahoo. He will turn Aso Rock to a yahoo-den, a small boy, a fraudster who will turn Aso Rock to a yahoo office,” he said.

He also suggested that Obi should not be allowed to displace older politicians, arguing that Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu should remain the principal contenders.

“It’s better you leave this elderly men to continue to control us. If Atiku can defeat Tinubu, accepted. Let elderly men control us, after all, it’s our fathers who trained us,” he said.

“Obi will never become that President, he will turn Aso Rock to yahoo office.”

The officer subsequently linked his accusations against Obi to alleged ritual activities, saying, “The one there now, you say he is a tout, they will turn everywhere to yahoo, use people for rituals. A small boy that doesn’t want to respect his elders. He said when he was Governor of Anambra, I left so-so amount of money, you are doing yahoo, doing rituals.”

He ended the remarks with further Yoruba expressions, including one translated in the video as “You can’t win,” before telling Obi to “go and continue selling your okirika,” referring to second-hand clothing.
