Odeyemi who made the call when he featured on Osun NUJ Correspondent Chapel personality interview programme tagged: “News Point” in Osogbo noted that the government should not be left alone to fund education.

While commending some alumni of OSCOTECH whom he contacted and responded to his call to assisting the college, also charged the indigenes of Esa-Oke to assist the citadel of knowledge in whatever capacity they could afford.

Speaking on the controversy generated by his alleged move to influence the siting of a satellite campus of the institution in Ibokun, his hometown. Odeyemi said the community was misinformed by some individuals with ulterior motives.

According to him, it was wrong to spread the rumour that he intended to move 10 departments of the institution to Ibokun while the institution has not even written to secure approval for the establishment of the Mass Communication department he conceived could be located in Ibokun because of the availability of training facilities.

He noted that even when the Osun State government had come out to state categorically that there was no plan to have a satellite campus of the institution, his life remained threatened as bill boards banning him from entering the institution were placed conspicuously in strategic locations in Esa-Oke till date.

The pioneer chairman of NUJ Osun Correspondent Chapel lauded the management of the institution for groundbreaking research findings and innovations which include: invention of electricity jack, Bluetooth control fan, weight control wheel barrow, smart home automation, RFID smart security gate among others.

He however expressed displeasure on the attitude of government and Nigerians to polytechnic education which he insisted is the way to go if Nigeria will go places in the comity of nations.
