Former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm and patient following the outcome of the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) State Caucus meeting in Abeokuta.
The appeal comes after Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, was adopted as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State following a high-level caucus meeting in Abeokuta— a move widely viewed as an effort to strengthen party unity ahead of the next governorship election.
Isola assured his supporters that he is currently undertaking extensive consultations before making any announcement regarding his next political move.
In a statement addressed to members of the Sarafa Support Groups, the former High Commissioner emphasised the importance of inclusiveness, consultation, and responsible leadership, particularly during periods of political transition.
“As a democrat deeply committed to the values of inclusiveness, consultation, and responsible leadership, I wish to assure you that I am actively engaging in broad and meaningful consultations with critical stakeholders and respected voices across our political and social landscape,” he said.
He explained that the consultations are aimed at ensuring any eventual decision reflects the collective aspirations of the people and contributes to political stability.
“These consultations are essential to ensuring that every decision taken is not only strategic but also reflective of the collective interest, aspirations, and stability of our people,” Isola added.
The former diplomat, a prominent APC figure in Ogun State, urged his supporters to remain composed and trust the process, describing the moment as a critical phase requiring unity and maturity.
“I urge all members of the Sarafa Support Groups to remain calm, steadfast, and confident in the process. Leadership, at defining moments such as this, demands patience, clarity, and a firm commitment to the greater good,” he stated.
He further assured that a clear and comprehensive position would be communicated after the consultations are concluded, while also calling for continued unity and peaceful engagement.
“Let us continue to uphold unity, peace, and constructive engagement as we navigate this important phase together,” he said.
