An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, Modele Sarafa-Yusuf, has said she is confident of clinching the party’s ticket ahead of the primaries.
In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, Sarafa-Yusuf said her confidence draws from previous experience and wider consultations ahead of the exercise.
She also said there is a more favourable political environment compared to the last election cycle, while reflecting on her previous attempt in 2022.
Recounting the past experience, the aspirant said she accepted the result with dignity, maintained relationships, stayed connected with the party, and continued to learn at the feet of people who know how politics works in Ogun State.
She also said her chances are brighter because the incumbent, unlike the previous election, was seeking re-election.
Going forward, however, Sarafa-Yusuf said “I’m really confident about my chances this time around. It was the last time, but now even more so.”
Noting that the financial warchest of other aspirants doesn’t discourage her, said “The race does not always go to the swiftest. In life and in politics, anything can happen.”
Sarafa-Yusuf stressed the importance of consultations and grassroots engagement, saying “I consulted with a wide range of people, the leaders, the stakeholders, the party people at the grassroots.”
End.
