The co-founder of Eybrids, Olajide said, his love for problem-solving has always been the driving force in his life, and with the increase in internet penetration and connectivity, hence the need for effective cybersecurity measures to help prevent financial losses resulting from hacking, identity theft, and various forms of online fraud, which ultimately led him to be a cybersecurity expert.

Leveraging Passion
“My journey began when I broke into tech by learning Oracle Database Administration and Web Development. I found myself fascinated by how these systems operate, and I started helping people in my community by fixing small operating system issues. These early experiences laid the groundwork for my passion for tech,” he disclosed.
However, it was during his MSc in Cybersecurity that he found his calling, saying, “the programme allowed me to dive deep into the complexities of security in a digital age, and I became increasingly motivated to tackle the growing cyber threats that businesses and individuals face. Cybersecurity, to me, is not just a profession but a mission to solve complex problems and protect critical information.”
Sharing the success story of his career, Olajide, the mathematics graduate turned cybersecurity expert said, one of the most significant successes in his career has been earning certifications in key areas such as ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, CompTIA Security+, AZ500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate), and other credentials, and of course, completing his MSc in Cybersecurity.
Another major accomplishment was co-founding Eybrids, a cybersecurity consulting firm that has made a meaningful impact on the industry.
To him, “our company, built on the principle of ‘Securing Tomorrow Today,’ has helped clients secure their digital environments, making a real difference in their ability to operate securely and confidently in an increasingly digital world.
“Our success is not just measured by the number of clients we serve, but by the trust we have earned from businesses that rely on us to safeguard their data and systems. Additionally, mentoring others in the field has been a rewarding part. Seeing people I have mentored break into cybersecurity and flourish has been one of the highlights of my career.”

Essentiality Of Cybersecurity Consulting
Speaking on the impact of cybersecurity in a society like Nigeria and, by extension, Africa, Olajide expressed that, in a growing economy like Nigeria, where digital transformation is occurring at a rapid pace, cybersecurity is essential. As more businesses adopt digital solutions, he said, the risks associated with cyber threats also increase, hence, Cybersecurity ensures that these businesses can thrive without the fear of attacks that could compromise their operations.
“In Nigeria and Africa as a whole, the demand for cybersecurity services is growing. Unfortunately, many organisations still do not fully understand the importance of strong cybersecurity defences until after they’ve experienced a breach,” he stressed.
Eybrids, he said, is committed to making a difference by helping Nigerian and African businesses protect themselves from these risks, adding that, “We provide them with the tools and knowledge to safeguard their information and maintain trust with their customers. The work we do at EyBrids also contributes to the overall development of Africa’s digital economy by promoting safer and more secure online transactions. This, in turn, helps foster a more resilient business environment that can compete on a global scale.”

Lucrativity
“Cybersecurity is an incredibly lucrative field because every organisation, no matter its size, has valuable data or intellectual property to protect. Whether it’s a financial institution, healthcare provider, or tech startup, every company holds information that needs to be kept secure. Even individuals require some level of cybersecurity to protect personal data and privacy. This makes cybersecurity an indispensable service.

“In addition, as the sophistication of cyber threats increases, the demand for skilled professionals continues to grow. The field offers significant financial rewards, but more than that, it provides long-term career stability because security will always be a priority. At EyBrids, we are at the forefront of delivering these essential services, helping businesses understand that investing in security is investing in the future of their company. It’s not just about avoiding attacks; it’s about enabling business growth by building trust with customers and partners.”

Challenges
The most notable challenge in cybersecurity is the tendency for people and organisations to prioritise convenience over security. For example, many users prefer easy-to-remember passwords or quick online transactions, even when they know these practices can put their data at risk. Balancing convenience and security is one of the ongoing struggles in this field. We often have to educate clients on the importance of taking those extra steps to secure their systems, even if it requires a bit more effort or changes to their processes.

Another challenge has been staying ahead of the rapidly evolving threat landscape. Cyber threats evolve almost daily, and as a cybersecurity professional, it’s crucial to constantly learn and adapt.

Advice
Olajide said, passion is key to succeeding in cybersecurity. It’s not just a technical field; it requires a deep curiosity and a drive to continuously learn and adapt. His advice to upcoming entrepreneur is to build strong foundational knowledge but also seek mentorship.

“One of the most important things I have done in my career is to connect with professionals in the field, whether on LinkedIn or through industry events. I also highly recommend getting hands-on experience. For example, internships like those offered at CyBlack, a non-profit organisation providing free valuable practical knowledge that can’t be learnt from books alone. These real-world experiences help build confidence and skills, which are critical to thriving in this industry.

“Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to people, ask questions, and get involved in the community. The cybersecurity field is collaborative, and the more you engage with others, the more opportunities you will find,” he admonished.
