‎
The annual celebration of Ilaje Bariga Day is set to hold on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with stars who grew up in Lagos suburbs, namely ace rapper Olamide and musician 9ice, headlining the show.
‎
‎The community event, held at CMS Grammar School in Bariga, will include cultural performances, a unity carnival parade, and community excellence awards to honour distinguished sons and daughters of Bariga.
‎
‎According to organisers, King Sunny Ade, who also lived at Bariga and has a sprawling mansion in the area, is also set to make an appearance.
‎
‎Recall that in July 2025, the Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos honoured Nigerian music icons KSA, Olamide and 9ice by renaming significant streets and landmarks after them.
‎
‎Bariga Day has been a rallying point for personalities who grew up in the area and have made the community their home. This year’s edition will feature a potpourri of highlights, including dance, drama, and music, to showcase Yoruba tradition and culture.
‎
‎Last year’s edition, held on January 4th, 2025, was at the Bariga Waterfront Jetty.
‎The event. serves to celebrate the community’s heritage and foster development.
