The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, is delivering a keynote address at the 2026 African Development Conference (ADC) which began yesterday at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Law School in the United States.
The director-general of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is also speaking at the event.
The conference, organised by the Harvard African Law Association, brings together policymakers, scholars and development experts to deliberate on the theme, “Reclaiming Africa’s Agency in a New Global Order.”
According to the organisers, the monarch is speaking on “A New Era of Leadership in Africa: Value, Institutions, and Influence,” with focus on strengthening institutional frameworks and enhancing the continent’s role in global affairs.
Key participants at the event include Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; president of the African Development Bank, Sidi Ould Tah; former president of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim; board chairperson of the West African Development Bank, Serge Ekue; and Nigeria’s minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele.
The two-day event features policy sessions and roundtables aimed at generating practical strategies to advance Africa’s development agenda.
