The Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, on Sunday ordered that flags be flown at half-mast across the state in honour of the passing of a former governor of the state, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
Makinde who had earlier expressed condolences to the family of the late elder statesman and the people of the state, disclosed the directive in his verified Facebook page.
“We are saddened by the passing of His Excellency Dr Victor Omololu Olunloyo this morning, just days before his 90th birthday. Baba was a brilliant mind, a renowned mathematician.
“He will be remembered for his selfless contributions to the development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
“I have directed that flags be flown at half-mast for one week as we mourn him as a former Governor of Oyo State.
“I am honoured to have had the privilege to know him and benefit from his wise counsel. He will be sorely missed.
“May Baba’s soul rest in peace and may God grant his family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” the governor added.
