Omidiran Backs Super Falcons To Make History With 11th WAFCON Crown

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran, has rallied the Super Falcons ahead of their campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), urging the reigning African champions to remain united, focused and determined in their pursuit of a record-extending 11th continental title.

In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday, Omidiran praised the Super Falcons for consistently representing Nigeria with distinction and inspiring millions of Nigerians through their resilience, discipline and performances on the continental stage.

She urged the players to approach every match with confidence and a winning mentality, assuring them that Nigerians remain firmly behind the team as they seek another historic triumph.

“As you begin your quest for another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, I extend my unwavering support and best wishes to our gallant Super Falcons,” Omidiran said.

“You have consistently inspired Nigerians with your resilience, excellence and patriotic spirit.

“The entire nation is behind you as you chase a record-extending 11th WAFCON crown. We believe in your ability to make Nigeria proud once again.

“Stay united, remain focused and continue to display the fighting spirit that has made the Super Falcons the pride of Africa.”

Omidiran, a prominent advocate for women’s football and youth sports development, said the achievements of the Super Falcons have gone beyond football, inspiring young Nigerian girls to pursue careers in sport and believe in their ability to achieve greatness.

She noted that the team’s success demonstrates how determination, hard work and patriotism can overcome challenges and produce outstanding results.

Omidiran has held several positions within Nigerian and international football administration, including membership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board and FIFA Women’s Football Committee.

She is also Secretary of the Nigeria Olympic Committee Board of Trustees, proprietor of Omidiran Babes, a two-time Chairperson of the NFF Women’s Football Committee and a former Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports.

Through those roles, she has consistently advocated the development and advancement of women’s football in Nigeria.

The FCC chairman assured the Super Falcons of the continued support and prayers of Nigerians throughout the tournament, expressing confidence that the team would return home with the coveted trophy.

The Super Falcons are set to begin their Group B campaign against Malawi before facing Zambia and Egypt as they seek to further strengthen their status as Africa’s most successful women’s national team.
