The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the appointment of Professor Bode Ayorinde as State Coordinator and 18 others as local government coordinators by a coalition of political interests, declaring the move as unconstitutional.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Eniola Olurotimi, stated that the current Executive Committee, led by Chief (Mrs) Ganiyu Sidikatu Ojo, remains the only legitimate and recognised leadership of the ADC in Ondo State.

“The so-called appointments announced by some individuals are without merit, illegal, and must be disregarded. These actions violate the internal processes and constitution of our party,” he stated.

Olurotimi emphasised that the purported list of coordinators was “unacceptable, null and void,” warning those involved to immediately desist from parading themselves as party representatives.

The party accused the coalition group of attempting to hijack the party’s structure in Ondo State under the guise of political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“All stakeholders, party members, and the general public are advised to ignore any misleading claims or insinuations about a change in leadership. The ADC in Ondo State remains under the leadership of Chief Ojo, duly elected and constitutionally backed,” the statement read.

Olurotimi reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation, transparency, and unity, warning against impersonation and any activity carried out without the consent of the authentic state executive.

Meanwhile, speaking on national developments, the ADC acknowledged an emerging coalition of political parties joining forces to confront the economic hardship and misgovernance under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, it maintained that such partnerships must respect internal democracy and existing party structures if they are to be meaningful and legitimate.

According to Olurotimi, “Any credible alliance must be built on due process. Legitimacy and internal order remain the bedrock of the ADC’s operations.”

He called for calm among party members while urging unity, discipline, and focus as the party prepares for the future, positioning itself as a viable alternative to the APC.
