‎The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has sought the intervention of former Deputy Governor, Otunba Omolade Oluwateru, in resolving the grievances arising from the party’s recent primary elections.

‎The state APC Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, made the appeal on Tuesday when he led members of the State Working Committee on a visit to Oluwateru at his home in Akure, the state capital.

‎Kolawole described the former deputy governor as a politician with vast experience in party affairs and urged him to deploy his influence towards restoring peace and unity within the party.

‎He also called on Oluwateru to continue supporting the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, saying the party and the state government needed the contributions of experienced leaders to move the state forward.

‎The chairman acknowledged that disagreements were inevitable after party primaries, noting that the APC had established a reconciliation committee to address grievances and prevent them from escalating ahead of the general elections.

‎He appealed to Oluwateru to reach out to aggrieved party members and support efforts to restore unity within the APC.

‎He said “We are glad to have Your Excellency in APC at a time like this. The state chapter and government need your experience and support to pilot affairs.

‎”We enjoin our respected leader to assist in reaching out to our members who are visibly aggrieved as a result of the outcome of the primaries.”

‎Responding, Oluwateru commended the state APC leadership for taking proactive steps to address the post-primary crisis, particularly the establishment of the reconciliation committee.

‎The former deputy governor, who served under the administration of the late former governor, Dr Olusegun Agagu, said he joined the APC to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

‎He stressed the need for the party to reconcile its members and unite them ahead of the 2027 general elections to secure maximum votes for the President in Ondo State.

‎He further urged APC members to promote unity, stressing that Governor Aiyedatiwa remained the leader of the party in the state.

‎”My advice is that we should bring everyone together. I am ready to assist the party in this regard. I want to assure you that I am 100 per cent with you on this mission.

‎”I am in the party to assist its development, and ensure Asiwaju Tinubu returns as president in 2027. If we waste the chance, we don’t know when it will come to Yoruba again,” he said.
