OPay has debuted on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Friday becoming the first major Nigeria-focused fintech to list in the United States.

The company priced its Initial Public Offering at $19.00 per American Depositary Share (ADS), raising $304 million from the sale of 16 million ADSs. Each ADS represents ten ordinary shares.

The registration statement was declared effective by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 29, 2026, with trading commencing October 30 and closing expected November 2, 2026.

Joint bookrunners are Citigroup, Deutsche Bank Hong Kong Branch and Standard Bank of South Africa, with B. Riley Securities and Needham & Company as co-managers.

Live data from the NYSE floor, put OPay’s market capitalisation at $4.01 billion at debut, ranking it among Africa’s most valuable fintechs just seven years after launching in Nigeria in 2018.

OPay said it now serves over 50 million monthly active users across Nigeria, Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia, and holds 9.9 per cent market share in Africa and the Middle East by monthly active users in H1 2026. In the 12 months to June 30, 2026, it processed $558 billion in Gross Transaction Value.

At the bell-ringing ceremony, vice chair, NYSE, Michael Harris welcomed OPay, saying the Exchange has stood for over 230 years as a symbol of access to capital and opportunity.

“Access to financial services is one of those powerful drivers of economic opportunity. Mobile technology has been at the forefront of progress across Africa,” Harris said.

He said the IPO matters for three reasons: it gives global investors access to fast-growing consumer markets, it gives OPay capital to build new products, markets and partnerships with higher accountability, and it demonstrates the strength of U.S. capital markets to bring together a company led from Singapore, serving three continents, with investors from Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

OPay’s co-CE, Lars Boilesen thanked the NYSE and welcomed viewers from Nigeria and other offices, saying “this moment belongs to all of you.”

“Our journey is just beginning. In Nigeria, an estimated 40 million adults remain outside the formal financial system. Even within our home market, there is still significant headroom,” he said.

He described the listing as a new platform, not a destination, to deepen its position in Nigeria and expand its model to other emerging markets where young, digital-first populations are driving financial inclusion.

The company has also secured board and shareholder approval for a secondary listing on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), though no date has been announced.
