A coalition of youth leaders from the South-East has warned that any opposition to the return of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko to the Senate in the 2027 general elections would amount to working against the collective aspiration for the creation of Anioma State.
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), in a statement , declared its “total and unequivocal support” for the senator’s re-election, describing his continued presence in the National Assembly as critical to the struggle for the creation of Anioma State.
COSEYL President-General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, who signed the statement, said the organisation believed Senator Nwoko had demonstrated strong legislative commitment and purposeful representation within his first two years in office.
According to the group, the senator’s legislative record and advocacy for Anioma State have made him a central figure in the campaign to address what it described as longstanding political and structural imbalances affecting the Anioma people.
The youth body noted that Nwoko had sponsored 31 bills and moved more than 20 motions in the Senate, adding that his sponsorship of the Anioma State Creation Bill represented a significant step in the quest for the proposed state.
“For us in COSEYL, anyone opposing the return of Senator Nwoko to the Senate is clearly working against the collective aspiration for the creation and realization of Anioma State,” the statement said.
“The struggle for Anioma State requires courageous, visionary and committed leadership—qualities that Senator Nwoko has consistently demonstrated,” the group said.
The organisation further argued that Nigeria needs leaders who are focused on results and committed to improving the lives of their constituents through accountable and transparent leadership.
It described Nwoko as a leader whose legislative initiatives and advocacy reflect a commitment to democratic values and national development.
