OSSIEC Releases Timetable For LG Govt Election In Osun

The Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC), Hashim Akintunde Abioye yesterday said the commission has released the timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of the Local Government elections in Osun State.

A statement by the press officer of the commission, Omoyemi Badru stated that the conduct of primary elections by political parties expected to be monitored by the Commission will commence on the 22nd July – 6th August 2024.

According to the release, each registered political party is to indicate the dates, venues and time scheduled for their primaries to the Commission not later than 21 days before the appointed dates.

“Final date for submission of list of candidates by parties is slated between 30th September, 2024 – 5th October, 2024, while the final date for the publication of names of already screened and qualified candidates is slated between 11th – 15th November 2024.

It would be recalled that the chairman at a parley with newsmen during the week stated that as a follow-up to the parley held by the Commission

with IPAC the elections were slated for 22nd of February, 2025.

The OSSIEC Chairman during the parley had promised that the forth-coming local government elections will be a giant leap forward in the history of local government elections in Osun State, as he assured stakeholders of a credible, free, fair, peaceful and transparent election process.

The chairman hinted that the guidelines and regulations for the elections will be issued in due course adding that the soft copies of the notice timetable/schedule will also be circulated widely for public consumption.
