Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have adopted the Accord Party (AP)candidate in the forthcoming August 15 governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, as its candidate.

At an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting at the party secretariat in Osogbo, the chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, directed all PDP structures to move en masse and give total, unalloyed and uncompromising support to the re-election of Governor Adeleke under the platform of the Accord Party.

His words: “After wide consultations with our elders, stakeholders, leaders across the three senatorial districts, and after careful consideration of the overriding interest of Osun people, the Osun State Chapter of the PDP hereby directs all our structures, from the polling units to the wards, from the wards to the local governments, and from the local governments to the state executive committee, to move en masse and give total, unalloyed, and uncompromising support to the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke under the platform of the Accord.

He attributed the decision to the leadership crisis confronting PDP at the national level that was allowed to fester to the point where the party was unable to present a candidate for the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state adding that Osun PDP will not allow a national leadership dispute to truncate the destiny of Osun people.

Bisi contended that the party will not allow internal crisis at one level to sabotage development in Osun, hence the need to give full support to the performing governor of Osun State in the person of the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.

In his response, Governor Adeleke who acknowledged his former membership of PDP accepted his adoption as their candidate for the coming governorship election and expressed his gratitude to the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity extended to him.

He said: “I love PDP but I have to leave to escape being trapped for my reelection. I confided in some of our leaders that I trust, we started consulting and praying to God over it. We were guided to the Accord Party, you see that the party is the first on the ballot”.

He urged them to vote massively for the Accord Party on August 15th, 2026 and assured them of victory as the people of Osun State are yearning for continuation of good governance in the state.
