In a thoughtful fusion of sport, history, and community pride, the Osun State Football Association has selected the renowned Odùduwà College, Ile-Ife, to host the semi-final matches of the President Federation Cup.
This decision is deeply symbolic, blending the excitement of football with the rich heritage of the region.
The semi-final fixtures promise thrilling encounters will see Ejigbo City (Ejigbo) Lock Horns with Ijesa Golden Warriors (Ilesa) on Monday, April 13 in first semifinal; while Telu FC (Iwo) and Dokkal Khairu (Ile-Ife) will faceoff in second semifinal game on the same day. The Final is scheduled for Sunday, 26th April 2026.
Beyond the matches, a compelling narrative unfolds, connecting the beautiful game with local heritage.
Established in 1932 by Oba Sir Adesoji Aderemi, Odùduwà College is a pivotal institution in Osun State’s educational history. As the state’s first secondary school, it embodied a pioneering vision to advance local education when opportunities were scarce. Founded without colonial approval, the school demonstrated immense courage, foresight, and a commitment to self-determination.
Over the decades, the college has produced many distinguished figures, including Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the 50th Ooni of Ife. Its enduring motto, “Love God and My Country Serve,” reflects values of discipline, service, and patriotism—qualities that resonate strongly with the spirit of sport.
It is important to note that Odùduwà College is distinct from Odùduwà University, Ipetumodu, which was founded in 2009. The college’s legacy remains deeply embedded in history, culture, and community development.
By bringing the President Federation Cup to this historic ground, the Osun FA is making a powerful statement: football is more than just a game; it is a unifying force thriving within the fabric of our heritage. It serves as a reminder that our playing fields can also be classrooms, where values are instilled, dreams are nurtured, and communities are strengthened.
As players step onto the pitch on 13th April, they will be competing on more than just a field; they will be stepping onto a legacy. And as the journey progresses towards the final on 26th April, one thing is certain: at Odùduwà College, history will not merely be remembered—it will be lived.
