African Democratic Congress (ADC) flag bearer for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, Dr Najeem Folasayo Salaam, has asked his supporters to refrain from engaging in abusive, insulting, or demeaning verbal exchanges against opponents in an effort to gain a political advantage.
The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly charged them to adopt issue-based politics that can add value to governance in Osun.
Speaking shortly after he paid a courtesy visit to the Ogiyan of Ejigboland, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, in his palace, Salaam assured the Osun people of his commitment to inclusive development and responsible leadership when elected.
Dr Salaam, who formally presented himself to the monarch as a candidate in the forthcoming governorship election, solicited his support and that of the Ejigbo community, his home base.
He noted that Ejigboland has historically supported governorship candidates across the state without reservation, adding that it is now time for other towns to reciprocate by supporting Ejigbo Land to produce the next governor of Osun State.
In his response, the Ogiyan, Oba Omowonuola Oyesosin, expressed appreciation to Dr Salaam for bringing honour to Ejigbo Land through his governorship ambition.
The monarch prayed for the success of his aspiration, noting that the unity, acceptance, and goodwill surrounding Salaam and the ADC are clear indications of a promising journey ahead.
