Chairman of the Council of Otunbas of Ijebu Land, Otunba Busura Alebiosu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona. The revered monarch died on Sunday.
In a statement issued on behalf of the council, Alebiosu described the late monarch as “a symbol of royalty, dignity, courage, and wisdom, whose reign redefined the modern traditional institution in Nigeria.
“The Awujale was not just a king to the Ijebus; he was the soul of a people, the custodian of our heritage, and a global icon of integrity. His long and impactful reign, marked by fearlessness, intellect, and modernisation, will remain an inspiration to generations unborn.”
Otunba Alebiosu commiserated with all Ijebu sons and daughters across the world, stating that the vacuum left by Oba Adetona’s transition is immense.
“We are consoled by the indelible legacy he left behind, which is one of service, truth, and unflinching patriotism. I urge every Ijebu man and woman to honour his memory by living out the values he cherished.”
In the same breath, the Chairman of Otunbas also extended heartfelt condolences to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
“President Buhari was a statesman whose contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey, national security, and infrastructural development will be remembered. His passing is a great loss not only to the nation but to all lovers of peace and progress,” Otunba Alebiosu said.
He prayed for strength and wisdom for President Tinubu during this double moment of national grief, urging Nigerians to unite in sober reflection and collective prayer.
