Ahead of February general elections, Osun East Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has called for prayers for a peaceful polls.
Famurewa noted that to have a general election devoid of rancour, particularly in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole, citizens, irrespective of their religion, must put God first.
Speaking after the New Year prayer organized by Christian Association of Nigeria, Ile-Ife chapter, Famurewa commended the body for their consistent prayers for the sustenance of peace in the state.
The former Osun SUBEB boss stressed that now that the election is fast approaching and the coast is becoming clearer, religious bodies must not relent in their prayers.
He used the occasion to appeal to the people of Ife/Ijesa zone who are yet to collect their PVC to do so now that INEC has decided to take the distribution to their doorsteps, noting that it is the only power they have to choose their preferred candidates.
His words, “Our people in Ife/Ijesa have tried the two parties and they have seen the one that has their love at heart. Our party, APC, is the only party that is sensitive about the needs of the masses, we are progressives and I promise to make life better for our people if elected.
“I am appealing that our people should vote for APC, both at state and national level. Our presidential candidate is capable, he will surely take this nation to a safe haven”
In his remark, CAN chairman in Ile-Ife, Rev Canon Sam Leye Onitiju commended Famurewa for his presence, particularly for the financial donation he made towards the Ecumenical Centre’s project.
