The Yobe State governor Hon Mai Mala Buni said the appointment of all political and public office holders of his administration were done based on ensuring a solid foundation for the progress and development of the state now and in the years to come.
Buni stated this while presiding over the swearing in ceremony of a Head of the Civil Service, two newly appointed commissioners, 28 special advisers, permanent secretaries, chairman Teaching Service Board and members of the local government service commission in Damaturu.
The governor stated that as a state recovering from the effect of Boko Haram insurgency with many of its seasoned and experienced civil servants retiring, there is the need for more articulated policies that will guarantee a better future.
He said this among others inform the decision of his administration to prioritize training and retraining of both public and political office holders with a view to equip them with the techniques of managing government policies at all times.
“We are aware of our challenges especially on the mass exodus of experienced hands in the public and political arena. This is why we always tailored our appointments on the basis of shaping the future of the state in addition to articulating our development plans.
“I want to assure you that the government would provide all the necessary support to train and retrain the state’s workforce to promote efficiency in service delivery.
“The office of a Special Adviser can only be vibrant when there is a working connection with the grassroots to afford you credible inputs from you to advise from a well-informed perspective.”
Buni used the forum and charged the new appointees to key into his administration policy of promoting accountability, transparency and probity for better Yobe.
“As you may be aware, we have already developed an 11-point agenda to turn around the fortunes of the state in various fields of progress as well as the pedestal of development.
“Let me state with all sense of modesty that as a state we have made impressive success in accountability and transparency in governance which has earned the state recognition and awards from reputable international organizations that we must strive to improve for more remarkable feats.”
