A political support body, BAO Grassroots Support Group, has said that Ekiti State governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has made the people of the state proud by being a trustworthy servant, with his service recognised by two prestigious awards.

The group described the governor’s recent win of two Governor of the Year Awards within 24 hours as incontestable evidence of excellence in governance in Ekiti State under his leadership.

Governor Oyebanji clinched the LEADERSHIP Newspaper’s Governor of the Year Award 2025 on Thursday, 12th February in Abuja and was also bestowed with the New Telegraph Governor of the Year Award 2025 (Infrastructure) on Friday, 13th February in Lagos.

In a statement on Monday by the state coordinator, Prince Tunji Ogunlola, and the director of Publicity, Mr Odunayo Ogunmola, the BAO Grassroots Support Group congratulated Oyebanji on clinching the prestigious awards, saying the latest awards were evidence that Oyebanji has justified the mandate given to him by the electorate in the 2022 governorship election.

He noted that the governor deserves to be re-elected to ensure the good works continue in Ekiti till 2030.

It added that the forthcoming 20 June 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State offers the electorate in the Land of Honour an opportunity to give him a fresh mandate to take the state’s development to greater heights.

Describing Oyebanji as a serial winner of credible awards tied to good governance, leadership excellence, and massive transformation engineered by his visionary administration, the group said the Governor’s winning the awards is no fluke but a reward for his diligence in transforming the state’s fortunes through his six-pillar agenda.

The group listed some awards earlier scooped by Oyebanji to include the Silverbird Man of the Year Award (2024); Vanguard Newspaper’s Good Governance Award (2024), Daily Independent Newspaper’s Governor of the Year Award (2023), The EDGE Award for Most Outstanding Leadership (2024) and Energy Governor of the Year (2024) by the Energy Times.

They expressed their satisfaction that Oyebanji’s giant strides, which have led to significant growth in key sectors including education, healthcare, infrastructure, women and youth empowerment, digital economy and tourism development, among others, are being recognised within and outside the state.
