The Oyo State government has expressed readiness to empower over 12,000 youths between the age of 18-35 years old in website development, digital marketing and entrepreneurship as part of measures to curb youth restiveness in the state.
This was revealed by the Chairman, Oyo State Youth Development Agency, Prince Falana Adebowale during the unveiling of the Digital Skill Acquisition for youths in Oyo State coming up on October 2.
Adebowale said it has become necessary for the youths to be equipped with necessary skills to remain relevant, nothing that as the world is changing daily, modern technology is revolutionising traditional solutions to real-life issues.
He stressed that the agency is collaborating with industry experts and leading players to ensure the curriculum remains relevant and aligned with current market demands and to provide participants with hands-on experience and practical knowledge.
The chairman further acknowledged the support of partners and stakeholders in creating a robust framework for digital literacy and innovation.
He added that the ultimate target of the initiative was to build a future where youths in the state are leaders and pioneers in the digital economy.
Prince Adebowale said by working together with private organisation, the state can create an environment where every young person has the opportunity to succeed.
He urged young people to seize the opportunity, embracing the challenges that come with learning new skills.
Adebowale also commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for the youth in the state and giving them the opportunity to serve.
The Digital Skill acquisition programme is designed to unlock the potential of Oyo State youths, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
