An investigation into the incident is currently underway, with hospital authorities and law enforcement agencies working to address the situation and prevent future occurrences.

It was gathered that 12 students from Emmanuel Alayande University, accompanied by four motorcycles, stormed the state hospital in Oyo, causing chaos.

The medical director of State Hospital Oyo, Dr Rusheedat Gazaal explained that “The students brought a patient to the hospital around 10pm, claiming the individual had consumed poison.

“However, they refused to follow hospital protocol, neglecting to register the patient or obtain a hospital card.

“The students became aggressive, shouting and demanding that the ward orderly call the doctor on duty immediately. When the orderly complied, the students followed her to the doctor’s call room, causing a disturbance.

“In the ensuing chaos, the students broke three door glasses, injured the doctor on call, and chased hospital staff around the premises.

“The doctor on call notified the acting MD, Dr Rusheedat Adeola Gazaal, who requested backup from Amotekun and reported the incident at the Dubar Police Station.

“A police officer accompanied hospital staff to arrest the students, but the dean of student affairs intervened, calling the area commander to stop the arrest.

“The dean allegedly threatened to mobilise more students to the hospital, escalating the situation further.”
