PalmPay Nigeria has carried out a 7-kilometre sensitisation walk across major streets of Kano metropolis to educate residents on rising online fraud risks and how to protect their financial accounts.

Flagging off the campaign at the Civic Centre, the managing director of PalmPay Nigeria, Chika Reginald-Nwosu, said the initiative is part of a nationwide anti-fraud awareness drive aimed at strengthening the country’s digital financial ecosystem.

Nwosu said the company was committed to ensuring that customers do not fall victim to scammers exploiting digital platforms, stressing that fraudsters often use deceptive links circulated via SMS, email and social media.

“We want a very healthy financial ecosystem. Our goal is to eliminate fraud and ensure no PalmPay user becomes a victim.

“Whenever you see a link on social media platforms or your phone, verify it before you click. Any link you don’t trust, don’t open it,” he said.

He cautioned users against sharing sensitive banking details, especially PINs and OTPs, even with individuals claiming to be PalmPay staff. According to him, although fraud incidents on the platform have significantly reduced, the company remains determined to stamp them out completely.

Reginald-Nwosu added that PalmPay has millions of debit cards in circulation nationwide, enabling customers to make secure payments across ATMs, partner agents, and web channels.

During the sensitisation walk, PalmPay staff carried placards with messages such as “Together We Can Stop Fraud,” “Fraud Prevention Starts With You,” and “Don’t Share Your PIN With Anyone.”

The 7km walk covered major locations including Murtala Muhammad Way, Bata Roundabout, Ibo Road, Abuja Road, Yankura Market and Kano Quest Inn, where residents were engaged on safe digital banking practices and encouraged to report suspicious activities through official channels.
