The two minutes twenty-nine seconds trailer shows Rudd a chemical scientist and Ortega his relative in possession of a baby unicorn hidden in their car. Ortega flash visions of impending doom grew grimmer with the killing of the unicorn, whilst meeting with a group of investors and scientists determined to studying the blood of the unicorn – which appears to have the ability to cure cancer. But all hell breaks loose when the unicorn is reborn, and bent on eliminating its killers.

Produced by A24, Death of a Unicorn also casts Tea Leoni, Jack, Richard E Grant, Will Poulter among others.

Netizens welcomed it with mixed reactions:

“In Medieval Ages, unicorns were a symbol of ferocity. Their artwork depicted it taking one knight, maybe mounted on a horse to slay a dragon. It took half a dozen hunters, mounted, with as many dogs, to take down one unicorn, and the beast might resurrect,” said @MegaKnight2012

“If this is going to be a unicorn-related horror film, then it should be interesting and a nice return to their roots. Only criticism with the trailer is the last line, “Here’s hoping we kill Bigfoot on the way home.” Really, that’s the line you want to end on,” queries @andrewmalinowski6673
