The Postgraduate College of Veterinary Surgeons, Nigeria (PCVSN) has announced that its Sixth Convocation and Eighth Investiture Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 13 August 2026, at the I. A. Abdulkadir Auditorium, National Universities Commission, Abuja.

The ceremony, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., will feature the induction of new Members and Fellows who have completed advanced academic and clinical training, qualifying them as specialists across various fields of veterinary medicine.

Focusing on the theme, “Building a Resilient and Globally Competitive Livestock Industry: The Strategic Role of Veterinary Specialists in Nigeria,” this year’s event highlights the critical contribution of specialised veterinary expertise to national food security, disease prevention, and livestock development amidst changing climate and economic dynamics.

Established under the auspices of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), PCVSN awards Fellowship Diplomas that confer consultant status on successful candidates. Speaking ahead of the event, the Chairman of the Convocation Planning Committee, Dr David Ehizibolo, described the ceremony as more than an academic milestone.

“PCVSN remains committed to producing specialists who can drive innovation and policy in animal health,” Dr Ehizibolo said. “This Convocation and Investiture is not just a celebration of academic success. It is a call to action for veterinary professionals to lead the transformation of our livestock industry into one that is resilient, profitable, and globally respected.”

Echoing his sentiments, the Secretary of the Planning Committee and Secretary of PCVSN, Dr Helen Egoyibo Oputa-Chime, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to high standards.

“The College will continue to uphold the highest standards of postgraduate training,” Dr Oputa-Chime stated. “As we invest in new Fellows and Members, we are investing in the future of veterinary medicine in Nigeria and in the health of the nation’s food systems.”
