The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Kogi State governorship election, Senator Dino Melaye, has lamented the state of the major opposition party, saying the party has come to the end of the road.
Melaye, a two-time member of the National Assembly at different sessions, accused the trio of the acting national chairman of PDP, Amb. Iliya Damagum, the party’s national secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and national organising secretary, Umar Bature, of irreversibly destroying the opposition party.
The former federal lawmaker, who is currently on vacation outside the country, took to his Facebook page on Saturday to disclose his frustration about the fate of the PDP, adding that they will open up at the right time.
Melaye wrote: “End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time.”
LEADERSHIP recalls that a member of the National Assembly, representing Ideato North/South federal constituency of Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has consistently demanded the sack of Damagum as the PDP national chairman, accusing the latter of being a sellout and condoning indiscipline of some party members.
Ugochinyere had also recently accused Damagum and Anyanwu of compromise in the Rivers State political crisis at the detriment of the PDP.
