As part of activities marking World Oral Health Day 2026, Pepsodent has launched a school activation campaign across 51 schools in 17 states to promote healthy oral habits among Nigerian children.

The campaign was held simultaneously in several cities, including Port Harcourt, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ibadan, Ondo Town, Awka, Enugu, Abuja, Lagos, Yenagoa, Keffi, Calabar, Uyo and Benin City, among others.

World Oral Health Day is observed annually on March 20 to raise awareness on the importance of oral hygiene as a key component of overall health and well-being.

According to the organisers, the initiative featured interactive learning sessions and engagement activities designed to educate pupils on proper oral hygiene practices, including correct brushing techniques, reduced sugar intake and regular dental check-ups.

Pepsodent said the campaign reached thousands of school children nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to oral health education and promoting preventive care from an early age.

Speaking during the Lagos activation at Temidire Primary School in Alimosho, the Brand Manager, Pepsodent, Lauretta Amie, said the initiative reflects the brand’s focus on instilling lifelong oral care habits in children.

She explained that the campaign combines education with practical demonstrations to help children understand the importance of consistent oral hygiene practices.

Amie added that the company’s “Do The 2” campaign encourages families to adopt brushing twice daily as a simple but effective routine for maintaining oral health.

Also speaking, the Education Secretary of Alimosho Local Government, Dr Aminat Ige, commended the initiative, noting that it would boost awareness among students and parents on the importance of oral hygiene.

A dental surgeon, Dr Abraham Akinbami, said the programme is significant for driving behavioural change among young people, adding that early education on oral care is more effective than interventions later in life.

The Headteacher of Temidire Primary School, Moninuola Lawal, described the campaign as impactful, stating that it would help pupils develop healthy habits and influence hygiene practices within their families.

Pepsodent noted that the school outreach forms part of its broader efforts to promote oral health awareness in Nigeria through community engagement and partnerships.
